Our impact
Measurable change in awareness, skills and behaviour — documented through figures, milestones and stories.
Results we can count
Every figure below represents real people — students, farmers, journalists and vendors — reached through WEMASA programmes.
Where the numbers come from
Organic Farming Training for Women Vegetable Farmers
Hands-on training for women vegetable farmers in Kisewe and Kiburugwa to prepare natural pesticides, plant boosters and fungicides from local plants.
School Climate Change Awareness Programme
Interactive climate change awareness sessions that reached 3,700 students in 8 secondary schools across Temeke District.
School Tree Planting Programme
Greening school compounds with pupils and students at Kibasila, Kongowe, Lionel and Vingunguti — building a culture of environmental care from a young age.
Beach & Community Cleanups
Mobilising volunteers, residents and partners to clear waste from beaches, streets and public spaces — and to keep them clean.
1st Workshop for Young Girls and Women Environment Journalists
A capacity-building workshop, held for International Women’s Day 2026, equipping women journalists to report on environmental challenges.
Food Vendors Cooking Energy Mapping
Mapping the cooking fuels used by 78 food vendors in four major Temeke markets — charcoal, gas and firewood — to inform cleaner energy solutions.
Contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals
Our local action adds up to global progress. These are the UN goals our programmes advance most directly.
Milestones
Door to door for cleaner streets
Young neighbours start educating households near a local football ground on waste storage and collection — and streets become visibly cleaner.
Registered as a national NGO
WEMASA is formally registered under Tanzania’s NGO Act (Reg. No. ooNGO/R/2395), turning a neighbourhood initiative into a national organisation.
Schools, markets and farms
Programmes expand to climate awareness in 8 Temeke secondary schools, tree planting in schools, organic farming training and environmental data mapping.
First workshop for women environment journalists
On 11 March 2026, as part of International Women’s Day, WEMASA hosts its first workshop for young girls and women environment journalists — covered by national TV, newspapers and online media.
Together, we can keep Tanzania clean and green.
